Graduate student organizations and the University partner to provide additional support to graduate students

The leaders of Graduate Student Association – University of Waterloo (GSA-UW) and the Graduate  Studies Endowment Fund (GSEF), in collaboration with Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs (GSPA) have once again extended funding opportunities to support students for winter 2021.  This is an ongoing effort to support University of Waterloo graduate students completing their thesis – a continuation of the support available for spring and fall 2020.

With generous financial contributions from GSA-UW and GSEF, there will be an additional 16 thesis completion awards, available to doctoral and master’s students who are within two terms of completing their degree.  The distribution of the thesis completion awards will be co-ordinated by the associate deans, graduate studies, in the faculties. Students interested in the award should speak to their graduate co-ordinator.

“The University is grateful for the ongoing support from Waterloo’s graduate student organizations” said Jeff Casello, the University’s associate vice-president, Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs. “During a time where resiliency is incredibly important, the additional funds to support students as they finish their theses are very much appreciated. As a University, we are pleased to work collaboratively with our graduate students’ peer representatives, GSA-UW and GSEF, producing excellent outcomes for our students.”

The University continues to support graduate students personally and academically.  Students are encouraged to visit the graduate student section on the University’s COVID-19 information web page.
