Candidates for President

Stefan Venceljovski
Program of study: Arts Co-Op – History and Political Science
Term/level of study: 4A
It has been an honour to serve on the History Society executive team for the past two years, and I am excited to put my name forward once again, this time to serve as your President. Over the past year, we've made incredible strides in growing our community, elevating student voices, and supporting out members' academic and social lives. I'm proud of what we've accomplished, but I know there's still much more we can achieve together.
I'm running because I genuinely love this community. The History Society has been a home for me throughout my undergrad, it's where I've found friendship, purpose, and pride. I'm committed to helping it thrive and to bringing people together through shared curiosity, creativity, and care. I want to ensure that every student feels the same sense of belonging and support that I've been lucky enough to experience.
Candidates for Vice President

Sinead Costello
Program of study: Honours Arts and Business Co-op – History Major
Term/level of study: 4A
In my time on the History Society this past year I have been lucky to build connections with so many wonderful history students and professors. If elected to return as the VP of the History Society, I look forward to continue contributing to this growing community by helping to plan and execute intentional programming for our department to gather around, including key events like trivia and debate nights, bonfires, themed time era socials and more!
Candidates for Treasurer

Tegan Griffiths-Fulton
Program of study: ARBUS - History Major
Term/level of study: 3A
I have made such great memories with the History Society since joining in 2023. The Society is a community full of comradery, good vibes, and a shared love for the subject, and I am honoured to be a part of it.
I was previously the Treasurer in 2023 and the President in 2024, giving me a firm understanding of what it takes to run the Society. For example, I have been responsible for our annual Arts Endowment Fund application for the last two years, securing $5,000 in total grants for the MacKinnon Dinner.
For 2025, I wish to return to the integral role of Treasurer. If elected, my goals for this term would be to start creating detailed budget forecasts for each term to properly plan club expenditures, as well as to constantly communicate with the Arts Student Union to ensure cheque requests are fulfilled properly and in a timely manner, as we have had issues with this in the past.
Thus, as a person with knowledge, integrity and experience, I wish to be come the next Treasurer of the University of Waterloo History Society.

Sydney Black
Program of Study: Honours Arts - English and History Major
Term/Level of Study: 3B
I would love to join the History Society Executive Team in order to participate in the behind the scenes of all of the great events that the society hosts! With my passion for leadership, history, and building community, this role offers the perfect opportunity to merge these interests together. Through my current leadership roles as Residence Life Don, Executive of Internal Affairs for the St. Jerome's Musical Theatre Club and Treasurer for the UW Student Theatre Club, I have learned that I thrive in team environments, holding responsibility and serving as a role model to others around me.
As a history student, I understand the value that the past holds and how it can shape our beliefs and inform the future. Being part of this team would allow me to contribute thoughtfully and creatively to initiatives that highlight history's relevance and encourage students to see history as an impactful and fascinating subject area. My goal is to help make history more accessible, meaningful, and engaging for all students.
