Publisher responses to COVID-19

Many publishers have responded to the need to provide online resources by temporarily opening up access to content. We're highlighting changes that are relevant to University of Waterloo Library.

  • Cambridge University Press
    Extended access to these four reference materials is available on Cambridge Core:
    Cambridge Companions
    Cambridge Histories,  
    Cambridge Elements, and 
    Institutional Textbooks.
    Access until June 30, 2020.
  • Érudit
    Francophone peer-reviewed journals in North America.
    List of journals for which 12-month embargo has been lifted.
  • IEEE Courses
    IEEE courses offer online instruction in core and emerging technologies.
    Access until June 30, 2020.
  • JoVE Science Education
    JoVE Core: a video textbook that isolates and visually presents core concepts in biology and social psychology to improve learning comprehension.
    JoVE Science Education: a collection of simple, easy-to-understand video demonstrations in eight STEM fields.
    Lab Manual: comprehensive, curriculum focused videos for introductory biology lab courses.

    How to access:
    Go to the Library's Research journals and databases page and access JoVE Science Education. Click on the Science Education tab to see the modules (eg. physics).

  • Loeb Classical Library
    More than 520 volumes of Latin, Greek, and English texts are available covering epic and lyric poetry; tragedy and comedy; history, travel, philosophy, and oratory; the great medical writers and mathematicians; and those Church Fathers who made particular use of pagan culture.
