Beth Sandore Namachchivaya Beth Sandore Namachchivaya began her role as University Librarian on August 1, 2017.

Beth was formerly Associate University Librarian for Research, Associate Dean of Libraries, and Professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

She was also Visiting Librarian at University of California, Berkeley Library and California Digital Library, and has participated in the Research Library Leadership Fellows program of the Association of Research Libraries. Beth has a Bachelor of Arts in linguistics from The College of Wooster in Ohio, and received her Masters from the Graduate Library School at the University of Chicago.

Beth brings significant leadership experience specific to academic libraries, expertise in research and information technology, and has led the development of information discovery systems and digital preservation programs.

As University Librarian, she is a member of the University's senior leadership team, and provides overall direction for the delivery of library services and resources to meet the teaching, learning, and research needs of Waterloo’s diverse academic community.
