Join Classical Studies Professor Altay Coşkun for an introduction to the Special Collection & Archives’ Pyke coin collection and a practical opportunity to learn how to date a Roman Imperial coin.

This hands-on workshop will cover:

  • Meaningful iconographic elements
  • Standard elements of inscription
  • Tools needed to help identify coins, including the main printed and online catalogues

In preparation for the workshop, participants will receive digital materials, including a short introduction, glossary, and bibliography. Attendees are encouraged to bring their laptops.

Participation requires either some basic knowledge of the Roman Imperial World or of Numismatics. Please register by Mon, Sept 25 by contacting Professor Coşkun at acoskun@uwaterloo.ca.
