Following on our success as the top United Way fundraiser on campus last year, the Library was invited to participate in the March of 1000 Umbrellas on Thursday September 20 to launch the United Way Waterloo Region Communities' 2018 campaign.
Library staff joined others from across the university, including Feds, Athletics and University Relations, to show our support for the work United Way does for our community. Staff walked from campus to Waterloo Public Square, where over 450 volunteers from across the region began the march down to Kitchener City Hall. See more of the march on CTV News Kitchener.
University of Waterloo aims to contribute $270,000 to the region's goal of $8 million. Fundraising is well underway with some successful events in the Library already this year, such as the yard sale and art luncheon.
