Website wish list: feedback and ideas from library staff

The Library WCMS team is holding monthly open house meetings for library staff as a way of sharing project news/developments and getting feedback.

The first open house was in March and library staff had some great ideas for what they want to see in the Library's new website:

  • Fast
  • Responsive
  • Simple / Google-esque
  • Less news on the homepage
  • Consistent with other web pages (Primo, TRELLIS, subject guides, etc.)
  • Avoids jargon
  • Reconsiders “TRELLIS” and “Primo” terminology
  • Avoids redundancies (subject guides vs. research databases page, etc.)
  • Hours & locations information prominent on homepage
  • A great search
  • Instructional resources are more prominent and situated in a better context
  • Subject/research guides more prominent
  • A “donate” button on the homepage
  • Building addresses on locations page
  • A “tech corner” section
  • Revisit the Library Survival Guide

The next open house for library staff will be held this week. We will be holding public open houses in the future and will announce dates as we get closer.
