Five Degrees of Freedom Magnetic Actuation

Wireless magnetic manipulation has absorbed a considerable amount of researchers’ attention due to its various application in different areas including the Micro-Opto-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MOEMS), the MicroElectroMechanical Systems (MEMS), and the Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS).

The designed magnetic device provides a remote control on a magnetic tool, micro-robot, inside the magnetic field over five-degree-of-freedom (5-DOF), three translations and two orientations. Since micro robots are designed in a tiny size, they can provide access to the small cells and increase the pace of the process. The main idea of this device is to provide a safer and less aggressive surgical environment in order to increase the performing tasks and decrease the required recovery time.
