Dr. Sam Mikail

Dr. Sam Mikail completed his doctorate in clinical psychology at the University of Saskatchewan in 1988.  He is a member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario and is board certified in clinical psychology with the American Board of Professional Psychology. Dr. Mikail has served on the Board of Directors of several professional associations and service organizations including the Canadian Pain Society, The Canadian Register of Health Service Psychologists, The Council of Professional Psychology Associations, The Blue Hills Child and Family Centre, and the Canadian Psychological Association (President, 2018-2019; Chair of Practice, 1999-2002, 2014-2017).  Dr. Mikail has maintained active involvement in research, professional training, consultation and clinical service delivery. He has published numerous articles in peer reviewed journals and book chapters on various topics including, coping with chronic pain, empirically validated psychological treatments, disability and depression, treatment of perfectionism, and coping with disability. Dr. Mikail currently provides consultation to private insurers, is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Waterloo, Centre for Mental Health Research and Treatment, and maintains a part-time private practice in Newmarket, ON.
