CMHR Supports Mental Health Wellness Day
This past Tuesday, the CMHR was proud to participate in the University of Waterloo’s 7th annual Mental Health Wellness Day to raise awareness about mental health.
This important day is set aside by the campus community to highlight the supports and resources at the university for those with mental health issues.
The CMHR had a table at the main event in the SLC atrium. CMHR staff provided information sheets for a range of mental health issues that are common, particularly for students at university.
“We are glad to be here as part of our campus community,” stated CMHR Executive Director, Dr. David Moscovitch, “These events are important to decrease stigma and increase understanding about mental health wellness.”
A number of students and staff from the university visited the table and discussed a variety of mental health issues with CMHR staff. Information sheets from a number of organizations, including the Canadian Psychological Association and the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, were among the most commonly picked up from the many available at the table.
The CMHR looks forward to our involvement in future Mental Health Wellness initiatives at the University of Waterloo.
