Monday, May 27, 2019

Clinical psychology graduate students from the University of Waterloo presented two exceptional community workshops this year.  Kevin Capobianco led a team of students to develop and translate empirical knowledge into applications for everyday life.

The Benefits of Self Compassion was presented to over 35 participants at the Kitchener Public Library (Central branch) on March 5 2019 by Jessica Dupasquier, Kira Vimalakanthan, Mahsa Janbahan, and Sydney Waring.  The presentation incorporated clinical examples and interactive exercises to understand the nature and science behind self compassion.

Predictors of Happy Healthy Relationships was presented to almost 50 participants at the Kitchener Public Library (Forest Heights branch) on April 29 2019 by Chantal Gautreau, Siobhan Sutherland, Olivia Merritt, and Julia McNeil.  Research findings to support healthy relationships were shared, along with practical tips for fostering a healthy love life with a partner.
