Check out the profile of Veronica Tsou, an NE alumna whose nanotechnology background supports her career as a litigation lawyer specializing in intellectual property. She uses her broad, multifaceted educational foundation to learn and understand innovative technologies and to protect the intellectual property rights of her clients.

The Nanotechnology Engineering program held its first Design Days event on March 12 and 19, 2019.

Held in collaboration with the Engineering IDEAs Clinic, NE Design Days challenged teams of first-year students to work together, applying information learned throughout their first-year courses, new lecture material and a set of instructions to design, build and test their own small-scale scanning tunneling microscopes.

With the spirit of someone who has forgotten that luck comes to those who work hard and prepare themselves, Nan Huang (BASc ‘15) credits good fortune for helping her succeed in her education and career. Read about Nan’s experiences in the Nanotechnology Engineering program, her career as Product Marketing Manager for AMD and the job search strategies that made her so ‘lucky.’

Nanotechnology Engineering alumni Samer Kurdi (BASc ’12) is participating in the 69th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting, which is taking place in Lindau, Germany, between June 30 and July 5, 2019.

The annual Lindau Nobel Laureate meetings focus alternately on physiology and medicine, physics, and chemistry – the three natural science Nobel Prize disciplines. This year’s meeting is dedicated to physics.

Farnaz Niroui (BASc ’11), who is now working as an Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, is profiled here as part of the Nanotechnology Engineering program’s count down to its 15th anniversary in 2020.

Read about her experience in the program and advice for NE students.

Engineering 7’s dynamic new meeting space provided the perfect setting for the Nanotechnology Engineering Capstone Design Symposium. The event, held on March 22, gave twenty-two teams of fourth-year nanotechnology engineering students the opportunity to present their Capstone Design projects to potential employers, industry representatives, faculty, family and friends.

Mina Labib (BASc ’13) moved halfway around the world to pursue his Nanotechnology Engineering degree and now travels around the world  installing Angstrom Engineering’s Physical Vapor Deposition and Chemical Vapor Deposition systems, making sure they work as requested and training researchers how to use and maintain them.

This story about Nanotechnology Engineering alumni Mohit Verma (BASc ’12), Assistant Professor at Purdue University Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering, is the second is a series that highlights some of our outstanding graduates, their reasons for studying nanotechnology and the interesting career paths they have taken since graduating.

A team of keen NE 100 students took advantage of some new course material and used their Computer-Aided Design (CAD) modelling skills to compete in a NASA-sponsored design competition.
