Students who want to study PACS must apply and be accepted to the University of Waterloo through an entry program. PACS is not an entry level program!
In the Faculty of Arts, you would select PACS as your major at the end of your first year. Anyone in another faculty can take PACS courses as an elective or through a PACS minor as their program allows.
It is possible to do double major studies within the Faculty of Arts or do a joint honours between different faculties.
Application information
- View instructions for how to apply to the University of Waterloo.
- Information on application deadlines.
- Students interested in majoring in Music should apply to Honours Arts or Honours Arts & Business.
To learn about admission requirements, see either Honours Arts and/or Honours Arts & Business requirements.
- These are both entry level programs that allow you to major in PACS. (Double majors and joint honours studies are options as well, after your first year of studies.)
The Vic and Rita Krueger Family PACS Award
This award supports first-year incoming students intending to major in PACS, who qualify for OSAP and demonstrate a commitment to the ideals of the PACS program. Recipients will be chosen giving preference to the following criteria:
- Students enrolled in a PACS core course.
- Students intending to pursue a PACS major.
- Students who qualify for OSAP funding.
- Students who demonstrate a commitment to the ideals of the PACS program (through a letter of application that outlines personal experience in peace issues, study goals and long term career aspirations).
Two awards of approximately $2,000 will be awarded annually (50% in the student's first year and the remainder in their second year when PACS is declared as a major).
