Andrew Cooper is participating at the BPC-GIGA Conference on Rising Powers and Contested Orders in the Multipolar System, Rio de Janeiro, 19-20 September 2013
Jointly organized by the BRICS Policy Centre, Rio de Janeiro, and the GIGA German Institute of Global and Area Studies, Hamburg, seeks to examine the contested dynamics of the rise of the BRICS. Rising powers have attracted tremendous interest in international politics and theory. Yet the ways in which secondary and established powers respond to regional and global changes in the distribution of power have been largely neglected. The conference seeks to fill this gap by presenting a systematic comparative analysis on different types and drivers of strategic responses to the rise of the BRICS by secondary and established powers.
