Call for competition for the PSCI logo design - show your creative side!

Wednesday, July 23, 2014

To All students, alumni and friends of the PSCI Department:

We are interested in creating a logo for Political Science at Waterloo. Our plan is to use it on fair trade, organic cotton T-shirts this fall, but with the possibility of being able to print it on hoodies, mugs, and other items that we can use for departmental fundraising.

The T-shirts may have “Waterloo” and “Political Science” on either the front or the back in the university font. But what we’re missing is a logo, and this is where you come in. If you are creative and have an eye for design, this could be the competition for you!

Requirements:

  1. The logo must reflect a relevant connection to the study of political science;
  2. The logo must be scalable–from as large as the front of a T-shirt to as small as the cover of the printed conference program and must render well in color as well as gray-scale;
  3. The winning design becomes the property of UW, Department of Political Science.

The designer of the successful logo will win a free T-shirt (and the bragging rights of having created the logo in the first place).

Entries are due by Friday, August 15. Please submit to Professor Anna Esselment at: alesselm@uwaterloo.ca. The Outreach Committee will review the submissions and the winner will be announced the following week. Our plan is to have T-shirt orders ready for a fall printing (in various colours and styles). Then we can wear them proudly around the department and around campus. Everyone should know how great our students are and the value of a Political Science degree at U Waterloo!

So…be creative! Be bold! We know we’ll have a tough time deciding which one to choose.

Good Luck!

The Department of Political Science
