The Department of Political Science is proud to celebrate three of our very own 2018 Outstanding Performance Award recipients, Prof. Anna Esselment, Prof. Emmett Macfarlane and Prof. Eric Helleiner. At a time when global migration is at a record high, Prof. Momani, is examining the impact of immigration on the bottom lines of Canadian businesses. Her research shows that across all sectors in Canada, a 1% increase in workforce diversity corresponds to an average increase of 2.4% increase in revenue and a 0.5% increase in productivity. Momani explores how Canada is uniquely positioned to harness the benefits of immigration, a benefit that she has named Canada’s diversity dividend.
The Department of Political Science is thrilled to celebrate the return of the Master of Public Service (MPS) program to the main campus of the University of Waterloo. Steve Orsini, Secretary of the Cabinet, Head of the Ontario Public Service and Clerk of the Executive Council gave the keynote address on Friday, November 24, 2017 during the formal grand opening of the program's new space.
The MPS program can now be found in East Campus 5.
Prof. Eric Helleiner is one of six 2017 recipients of the prestigious Killam Research Fellowship valued at $70,000 per year for 2 years. During this time Prof. Helleiner will pursue groundbreaking research on "Globalizing the Classical Foundations of International Political Economy".
Prof. Anna Esselment joined Prof. Danisch (Speech Communication) and Prof. DeVidi (Philosophy) at the KPL on March 16th for a panel discussion on "Post-truth. Fake News. Alternative facts." as part of the University of Waterloo's Beyond 60 Community Lecture Series.

The Department of Political Science at the University of Waterloo are deeply concerned by the United States government's Executive Order banning travel to the USA for citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries, banning all refugees for 120 days and suspending the arrival of Syrian refugees indefinitely.
The department of Political Science is pleased to congratulate Eric Helleiner, whose recent book, "The Forgotten Foundations of Bretton Woods: International Development and the Making of the Postwar Order"(Cornell University Press, 2014) was recognized at ISA 2016 with the Francesco Guicciardini Prize for Best Book in Historical International Relations.
On September 15 2015, the Trudeau Foundation announced that Professor Bessma Momani, a Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Waterloo, was awarded one of five 2015 Trudeau Foundation Fellowships.
