This document is designed to help you determine whether or not you are affiliated with, or receiving funding or in-kind support from, a Named Research Organization as per the Policy on Sensitive Technology Research and Affiliations of Concern (STRAC). The questionnaire is not considered part of your grant application package and should not be submitted to the funding organization.
Prior to filling out this questionnaire, you must first determine if your grant application will be aiming to advance a Sensitive Technology Research Area. If it is not, then the STRAC policy does not apply to this grant application and you do not need to determine if you are affiliated with a Named Research Organization.
How to use this Questionnaire
Once completed, if you have answered NO to all questions in both PART 1 and PART 2 of this questionnaire, you are NOT considered to be affiliated with or in receipt of funding or in-kind support from a Named Research Organization for the purposes of the STRAC policy.
If you answer YES to any of the questions in PART 1 of this questionnaire, you must terminate the affiliation and/or funding/in-kind support prior to applying for federal research funding where your grant application aims to advance a Sensitive Technology Research Area as defined by the Sensitive Technology Research Areas List.
If you have answered NO to all of the questions in PART 1 of this questionnaire, but have answered YES to any of the questions in PART 2, the best course of action is to contact your institution’s research security personnel or the Research Security Centre (researchsecurity-securiteenrecherche@ps-sp.gc.ca) for more advice and information, to help you determine whether you are affiliated with, or in receipt of funding or in-kind support from a Named Research Organization.
Please note: For the purposes of the Policy, co-publishing an article with an individual affiliated with, in receipt of funding from, or in-kind support from a Named Research Organization does not mean that you are also affiliated with that institution. Affiliations are not transferable in this manner. Similarly, having current or past working relationships with other individuals who may be affiliated with a Named Research Organization also does not mean that you are affiliated with a Named Research Organization. For more information, please refer to the Frequently Asked Questions webpage for the Policy.
