Research conducted under the auspices of the University of Waterloo must comply with the Tri-Agency Framework: Responsible Conduct of Research.
Investigations into allegations of irresponsible conduct of research are handled by two separate guidelines. However, the process involved is essentially the same.
- Allegations made against University of Waterloo faculty will use the process and criteria identified in Article 14 of the Faculty Memorandum of Agreement
- Allegations made against all other University of Waterloo personnel such as students and staff will use the research integrity administrative guideline
- All other cases of academic misconduct, which are not classified as irresponsible conduct of research, are handled using the appropriate academic misconduct policy
University of Waterloo policies also outline additional obligations with respect to the responsible conduct of research such as conflict of interest, intellectual property, and ethical behaviour.
