Waterloo Supermileage
The Competition

Every year in April the Shell Eco-marathon Americas competition is hosted in Detroit. Over 1,000 high school and post-secondary students from across the Americas compete to design and build energy-efficient vehicles. There are two categories in the competition - Prototype and Urban Concept. In the prototype competition, teams design a vehicle that fully maximizes efficiency while the urban concept competition involves more classic components of cars you would see on the road (vehicle headlights, etc.). Within the competitions, there is further categorization into the battery-electric, gasoline, and fuel cell powered vehicle sections.

The Team

The Waterloo Supermileage Team always seeks to recruit dedicated individuals who are passionate and willing to learn. From tuning the engine to building the chassis, from coding and installing the circuits to configuring the drive train, the team builds vehicles from scratch. The team is focused on the development of battery electric and gasoline vehicles but hopes to compete in all competition categories. In competition, the vehicle is driven by a designated team member. The team also participates in outreach programs around the community, showcasing vehicles and hosting demonstrations in local schools and events.

Waterloo Supermileage strongly believes in the notion of "giving back" and aims to equip the next generation with technology of the future and fuel their passion in science and engineering. The team has accepted the challenge to push the limits of energy efficiency and innovative solutions to the world's mobility challenges, will you?
