Our research and development is being directed towards implementing green technology while maintaining an affordable value. In order to provide top quality service to Habitat for Humanity, we will be participating in the Department of Energy Race to Zero Competition. The competition will provide students with research and skills that will be used for the benefit of Habitat for Humanity. Students working on the design team are receiving an unparalleled learning opportunity that includes hands-on experience and real world engineering knowledge.

Goals and Objectives:

  • Research high performance homes and best building science techniques
  • Acquire understanding of market value, governmental policy, and occupant desire
  • Compete in Department of Energy Race to Zero competition

University of Waterloo Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapter

The design team is an internal affiliate of the University of Waterloo Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapter. The Campus Chapter is a group of students who are passionate about helping families build better lives for themselves and are ready to take the next step to lead the charge in making our community a better place. All members fulfill Habitat's four main functions by volunteering in our community, educating the university around issues related to housing, fundraising in the area to support more housing opportunities, and speaking with community officials to prioritize shelter.

Warrior Home, in partnership with the Campus Chapter, is fundraising and seeking sponsorship to build the Warrior Home design in the local community for a family who needs it. All Warrior Home members are encouraged to participate in Campus Chapter Events and Volunteering.
