In the early hours of Sunday morning campus police received a call from Waterloo Regional Police requesting we check the area of University Avenue and Westmount Avenue for a male exposing himself to passers-by. Campus police immediately went to the location and found the male, later determined to be a UW student. After a short foot chase he was arrested.
Two females then spoke to the officers and reported the male had grabbed them.
WRPS then took over the investigation and charged the UW student with sexual assault, assault and with committing an indecent act. His court imposed conditions include not being on our campus property. Those key persons required to know have been directly given the necessary information should he attend. In circumstances like these students are dealt with under Policy 71, Student Discipline.
Community members who feel threatened on campus should call UW Police immediately.
