June 28 staff debrief sessions

Wednesday, September 27, 2023 4:00 pm - 4:00 pm GMT (GMT +00:00)

The UWSA is coordinating with Human Resources and the University’s EAP provider to offer small group sessions on September 12 and 27, to help members process the events of June 28 and any impacts on you and your work.

The sessions will be facilitated by an experienced and qualified counselor. We are offering a choice of two in-person gatherings as well as two virtual sessions conducted via Zoom. All sessions will start at noon, with an hour-long group discussion followed by an additional hour for individual drop-in time with the counselor, should anyone need it. Please note that, due to the nature of the event, space is limited. If these sessions fill up, we will consider booking more!

  • September 12, online
  • September 12, in person
  • September 27, online
  • September 27, in person

Register for a session here.

We will also be holding a town hall meeting later to provide space for members to share what you’d like to see implementing moving forward to feel safe and supported at work. These four sessions now are designed for those needing to debrief and receive support for moving forward.

These sessions are open to all staff members and are sponsored by the University. It is important to understand that Crisis Management Services (CMS) is providing a psychoeducational session to facilitate assistance with a critical incident and this is not a psychotherapy session. If you believe that you or a colleague is at risk of self-harm or harm to others, connect with your EAP (1-800-663-1142) or any emergency medical service (i.e. 911) to ensure safety for all.
