Congratulations to our new directors and president-elect

It’s official! Our 2024 election results were announced at our annual meeting this morning (a full meeting recap and Q&A is coming next week). I’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s elections, as either a candidate or a voter. Your involvement in your Association is so important! You are the true drivers of change and we cannot do our work without you!

Congratulations to incoming president-elect Alyssa Kuron, returning directors Kosi Ike-Orji and Ken Berry, and new directors Gail Bender and Matthew Grant.

I’d like to personally thank the outgoing directors Kelan Hirtle and Lillian Liao for the work, dedication, and passion they exhibited towards staff issues while they volunteered with the UWSA.

I’m very pleased to say that we met our goals for this year’s election: at least two candidates for president, six for director, at least one contract staff member, and 40% turnout (we reached a recent record of 40.8%).

Our new directors take office immediately starting today. Next Friday, I’ll complete my term as president and hand over the reins to Lisa Habel and Alyssa Kuron will begin training as president-elect. Please give both Lisa and Alyssa a warm welcome and all your support as they take on a very challenging role.

In all things, wherever possible, use your position to show grace and kindness to others; understanding each other’s perspectives and respecting the work of others.
