Joint Health & Safety Committee—Digital Media School

There is a staff vacancy on the Digital Media School Joint Health and Safety Committee. Staff representation on these committees is mandatory under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

The term is April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2029, and the application deadline is March 20, 2026 (4:30 p.m.). All non-managerial staff members are eligible to serve on the committee regardless of appointment type or UWSA membership.

What’s involved?

  • The JHSC normally meets every three months, in January, April, July, and October. 
  • You're entitled to one hour of preparation time for each meeting under the Ontario Health and Safety Act.
  • Special meetings or subcommittees may be called as needed.
  • One of the worker members inspects the workplace once each month.

The Safety Office will cover the cost of any training that is required to get you certified with the WSIB.

Qualifications

The Appointments Committee is particularly looking for staff members with some or all of the following characteristics:

  • Interest in health and safety and a willingness to participate in ongoing training
  • Ability to prepare for and attend all JHSC meetings
  • Conscientious, collaborative, and equity minded
