Short biography

Gabriel CarballoG. F. Carballo received his B.S. degree in computer science in 1992 and his B.S. degree in astronomy in 1993, from the Universidad de la Republica, Montevideo, Uruguay. He received his Ph.D. degree from the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden, in geoinformatics.

In 1991, he joined the Faculty, Centro de Calculo, Universidad de la republica, where he was the head of the GIS and Remote Sensing Department. From 1994 to 2001, was Senior Consultant for ICA, an engineering consulting company based in Mexico.

Research interests

His research interests include airborne and spaceborne SAR and optical remote sensing, hierarchical algorithms, and the development of enterprisewide software solutions that integrate GIS and remote sensing techniques.
