At GHC, women weren’t a minority in computing—we were the majority. And only then did I realize how rare and empowering it is to feel that way. To be honest, GHC was a healing experience for me. The women there were friendly, supportive, and genuinely cared for one another in a way I had longed for. It was like we all spoke the same love language, faced the same challenges, and finally found others who truly understood.
While many may view the career fair and speaker sessions as the highlights of GHC, for me, the most meaningful moments were found in the after-hours events and gatherings with communities like NCWIT and RTC. As a long-time RTC member and former NCWIT Aspirations in Computing award recipient, attending their gathering offered a deep sense of belonging that stayed with me long after the conference ended.
The impact was more meaningful to me than words can express. I am beyond thankful for this opportunity.
