For parents

How will GIRLsmarts4tech benefit my child?

We all use computer science in some way every day. Knowing how to use computers and technology to create and explore is an important skill to have, particularly from a young age. We especially want to encourage more female, transgender and non-binary youth to become interested in computer science.

How can I support my child's learning?

Visit our resources page for post-workshop activities and online tutorials and references.

Is lunch provided?

Yes, lunch is provided for all participants at in-person events. We are accommodating special dietary needs — for example, gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian, halal, etc. — as indicated by registrants on the online registration form.

Can I drop off my child instead of walking them in?

Please walk them in — your child needs to be signed in and out by a parent. We will send parking information in an email before the workshop. If your child is arriving unaccompanied, please contact us to let us know what arrangements you have made to drop off and/or pick up the participant.

Can parents attend?

This event is only for the children. Parents may not attend the event, as we want to encourage participants to engage with their peers.
