Hannah Clark

MA Student

Hannah received her Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the University of Waterloo. She is now pursuing her masters under the supervision of Dr. Jennifer Liu. Her research interests include death and dying, the deathcare industry, identity, and care.

Amanda Kubiak

MA Student

Amanda received her undergraduate degree from Wilfrid Laurier University in Archaeology & Heritage Studies and Ancient Studies. She has worked in CRM in the Kitchener-Waterloo area and is pursuing her interests in pathology and sub-adult remains under Dr. Alexis Dolphin.

Aicha Lariani

MA Student

Aicha received her bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and Sociology from the University of Malaya in Malaysia. Her research interests include existentialism, migration, identity, and the dynamics of border communities. She is particularly focused on how geopolitical and social forces shape women’s identities and lived experiences.

Jessica Mah

MA Student

Jessica completed her undergraduate degree in 2022 at the University of Alberta in Anthropology with a minor in Biological Sciences. Her research interests include chemical analysis of bone, dental anthropology, and bioarchaeology. She is pursuing her MA under the supervision of Dr. Alexis Dolphin.

Wynne Manning

MA Student

Wynne received a BSc in Health Studies from the University of Waterloo. Her research interests include science and health information, ethnography, public perception, and public health. She lives in Milton, Ontario. 

Kasiah Ruddell

MA Student

Kasiah received her BA in biocultural anthropology from Oregon State University and her MSc in GIS from the University of Arizona, where she completed an analysis on cultural resource vulnerability for the island of O’ahu. She has research interests in paleopathology, bioarchaeology, and stable isotope analysis as well as biocultural approaches to studying the human experience. 

Rosie Schwarz

MA Student

Rosie received her bachelor's degree in Geography and Environmental Management with a minor in Anthropology from the University of Waterloo. She is currently studying under Dr. Alexis Dolphin. Her academic interests include bioarchaeology and GIS. She has done fieldwork including excavating and surveying in Jordan and the east coast of Canada.

Cassie Sellers

MA Student

Cassie completed her undergraduate degree in Criminology at Saint Mary’s University, with minors in French and Anthropology. Before attending the University of Waterloo to study under the supervision of Dr. Alexis Dolphin, she worked as a fingerprint technician. Her research interests lie in paleopathology, skeletal estimation methods, and bioarcheology. 

Carita Tam

MA Student

Carita completed her BSc in Honours Science at the University of Waterloo with minors in Biology and Anthropology. She is continuing her education in Public Issues Anthropology under Prof. Robert Stark. Her research interests include exploring the relationships between trauma, stress, and pathology, and their manifestations on bone.

Menda graduated from the University of Waterloo with a BA in Anthropology and a minor in Cultural Identities. She is interested in pursuing anthropology and development and studying the longevity of development practices and healthcare.

Olivia Vieira

MA Student

Olivia graduated with an Honours Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Toronto Mississauga in Forensic Science and Anthropology. Before coming to Waterloo, she worked as an osteologist in CRM. Her research interests include forensic anthropology, trauma analysis, and sex/gender estimation.

Andrew Young

MA Student

Andrew joined the Public Issues Anthropology program after earning a BA in Archeology & Heritage Studies from Wilfrid Laurier University. His research interests include the integration of paleoclimatology and archeology, human-environment interactions in Arctic prehistory, and the adaptive strategies of past and present communities in response to climatic changes.
