EBOOK ANNOUNCEMENT
Riverside Architectural Press is pleased to announce the E-book release of THE INNER STUDIO: A Designer’s Guide to the Resources of the Psyche by Andrew Levitt. First published in 2007, THE INNER STUDIO has established itself as a seminal text for architects, designers and thinkers alike. Using anecdotes, examples and exercises, readers are invited to bring the wisdom of dreams, somatic experience and psychological shadow into the creative act of design. The book celebrates the potential of subjective experience to bring a more authentic and resilient imagination to the built world. Levitt’s goal is to give the inner world of the designer a greater voice in facing the problems of the 21st century. THE INNER STUDIO E-book is available for free download from Riverside Architectural Press for a limited time only: www.riversidearchitecturalpress.
The Inner Studio is a radical, deeply grounding, work of the imagination….a summons to greater consciousness regarding the construction and design of daily life.
James Hollis, Executive Director of the Jung Educational Center
In his unique and truly original text, Andrew Levitt draws from a deep understanding of psychology and architecture to produce a ‘manual’ for designers to foster these inveterate connections.
Dr. Alberto Perez-Gomez, McGill University
THE INNER STUDIO unveils a place of learning inside each of us where we learn lessons about ourselves that are inseparable from what we design and build. How do designers convert their subjective and often unconscious experience of the world into design? What are the creative consequences of “designing from within?” Welcome to THE INNER STUDIO.
About the Author: Andrew Levitt is a graduate of the Architectural Association in London and has a MSc. in counseling Psychology from Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia. He currently holds the position of continuing Lecturer at the University of Waterloo, School of Architecture.
