University of Waterloo School of Architecture Professor Adrian Blackwell recently appeared on Toronto's City News alongside Parkdale Neighbourhood Land Trust. To discuss a Gentrification Tax proposal developed through a collboartion between Gentrication Tax Action, Parkdale Nighbourhood Land Trust, LGA Architectural Partners, Blackwell Engineers.

Gentrification Tax Action, also includes School of Architecture Assicate Professor Jane Mah Hutton, Ali Shamas Qadeer, Kika Thorne, and three third-year University of Waterloo undergraduate students – Valentina Aguayo Martiri, Nathan Choi and David Mehta.

“We demand a Gentrification Tax" is one of the ten demands featured in Architects Against Housing Alienation’s Not for Sale! Campaign to End Housing Alienation in Canada, which occupied the Canadian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale from May to November 2023 and was co-curated by Waterloo Faculty Adrian Blackwell and David Fortin, alongside Matthew Soules, Sara Stevens, Patrick Stewart and Tijana Vujosevic.
