Student Portal

A Useful Tool!

From real-time transportation, weather, study space and parking information, to open classrooms, Off-Campus Housing and Food Services information, what is it that the student portal can not do? For those of you who are not aware of this incredible invention for students at uWaterloo, be prepared to be enlightened.

The portal is not like any other application. It allows you to customize widgets to your needs and provides personalized information such as your WatCard balance, real time Grand River Transit (GRT) bus times for your favourite route(s), and time sensitive notifications such as deadlines for arranging your fees! Also, you will not have to keep a separate calendar to track all the campus recreation activities you are involved in. The portal will keep track of your campus recreation schedule including intramural games and shoe tag fitness classes. Cannot make it to an upcoming varsity game? Go to your Student Portal and leave it to the portal to keep you updated on scores and live stats.

Finding a study space on campus can be equivalent to finding a needle in a haystack…usually. The portal developers have heard your voice and have made it easier to find study space, by assisting you in searching for available classrooms that can be used for studying or group work. Open classroom schedules show today’s availability and the next three days. Also, you can check real-time space availability for bookable study locations in campus libraries. Say goodbye to hopping from one building to another searching endlessly for a spot to study. Take advantage of this platform with its variety of purposes as it addresses your needs on one platform.

In a rush to access a computer immediately? Worry no more, the student portal allows you to see real-time Arts, AHS and Engineering computer lab availability. You can personalize this data by selecting your preferred lab(s) and find it on your home screen.

Other exciting features include:

  • Awards: Locate undergraduate and graduate awards and scholarships that you can apply for.
  • Crowd reporter: Manage your time more efficiently by checking traffic at your favourite food spot or fitness location before you head over. You can also improve others’ experience with the app by reporting traffic and line lengths yourself!
  • Food services: View hours, daily menus, meal options (halal/vegetarian) and other nutritional information for food outlets on campus.
  • Important dates: Don’t miss an important academic deadline again! The portal helps you keep track of important dates every term. For example: tuition deadlines, course selection periods, drop/add course periods, and university holidays.
  • Information Technology (IT) services: Connect with your faculty’s IT help/service desk to find information and support on a variety of topics including: wireless network, software, printing, WatSAFE notifications, and more!
