Minutes of the Arts Computing Department meeting held on October 11, 2018

- AdobeCC license renewal
- Removal of TLS 1.0 has resulted in some email not being delivered
- Messages are not being bounced, they’re just timing out and people are not being notified immediately
- Email recommendations group
- Alumni will be moving to .edu likely in January
- Alumni will need to login into their account yearly to maintain their email
- Forwarding in WatIAm to external addresses will be eliminated
- Forwarding rules within Exchange will be allowed but DKIM may break delivery
- Beginning a review of local email servers
- An ACL rule will lock down outbound SMTP
- All outgoing email will need to go through mailservices (any other email servers will need to be included in an exception list). If you email to an external account from your email client, you will need to reconfigure your configuration is use mailservices (or Connect) as your outgoing mailserver.

- Nearly finished work required for frontend and starting to work on backend soon.
- SPSS labs in PAS 1237 have trouble finding the SPSS software when searched from the start menu as it only performs a web search instead of looking through C:\
- Can do a customization on the start menu where the SPSS software app can be pinned as a tile.

- Deploying Jim Diamond's rollover at 1:00PM, retrieving his iMac to be redeployed as sessional.
- Waiting on Chris Eliasmith to get take-home form signed. Will deploy rollover once that is done.
- Deploying Ana Ferrer's rollover Thursday, October 18th, at 9:30AM.

- Worked with Herbert to make sure CALMS documentation and tutorial videos are up to date
- Working with Herbert to create a Poster Presentation (Happening in December)
- Presentation is an overview of ACO services and projects
- Currently learning how to use InDesign on Lynda.com to work on the project
- Working on Scinage tutorial videos for future ACO coops.
- Will be providing Troy Grandy a demonstration on how we use Camtasia to make the videos.
- ACO will be working with Science Computing to create the official documentation for Scinage.

- Just a note that Skype for Business on android/ios require you first install the GlobalSign Non-Public SHA256 Chain certs, as the Skype servers on campus use them.
- Android will give an error about certs whereas iOS will just say bad login without them installed.
- They’re not in the trusted store so they will be needed to be manually installed.
- Upgraded acoxy from 14.04 to 16.04, some configuration changes to xymon required as upgraded xymon now monitors inode count and warns when encountering a 301 redirect.
- Changed mailing list names dramstaff and dramfac to be commstaff and commfac respectively.
- Changed asac mail account to a shared mailbox.

- Received a note from Jeremy that the licensed had expired even though we just renewed the license during the Spring term
- Enumerating systems in St Paul's and Renison for upgrade from Win 7 (EOS Jan 14/2020)
- Trying to have all system upgrade to Windows 10
- Another set of rollovers in the Winter and Spring where all systems are to have Windows 10
- Coop interviews complete.
- Removed Help Desk Meetings: Daily visits suffice for updates to me. Consulted with all stakeholders.

- Set up WSUS GPO for Cygnus2 to update/restart Friday's @3AM.
- Working on creating a powershell script to identify which BIOS versions are running on each computer in Arts to see what needs to be updated manually and which can be done through the Task Sequence.
- Updated BIOS on the following systems:
- PSCISTUDENT1,PHILGRAD2,ECONGRAD9,ECONGRAD10 and re-imaged ECONGRAD9 and ECONGRAD10 from Win 7 to Win 10.

- Had a Wifi Event created for the Universities Art Association of Canada (UAAC) Conference 2018.
- Conference takes place in ECH from Oct. 26-28
- A single password for users without eduroam access.

- Reminder sent to two ML 117 to close up after their session.

- Some Windows 7 systems were missing patches, IST is trying to figure out a solution.

- Almost all systems are upgraded to Windows 10.
