 Minutes of the Arts Computing Departmental Meeting
held on July 10, 2014

  • Dawn
    • Chromebox-based digital signage
      • available for $200 as alternative to mac mini for digital signage set-up.
      • Science has used it successfully
    • ACO professional development schedule
      • Seminars will be 3rd Thursday of the month
      • July: Nevil & Scott- SCCM
      • August: Coops-individual project presentations
      • September: Barb & Dawn-Aligning ACO strategy with Faculty of Arts and IT strategic plan
    • Gaukel site (KSP) support
      • Requests from tech support at KSP should come to ACO to handle prior to being forwarded to IST
    • Use and publication of lynda.com account
      • Would like to have the account available to staff and faculty on a two-week schedule (exception would be when new coops need it for training purposes during their first month with ACO)
      • Barb to contact Bob Hicks to have account name changed to Arts Computing

      • Alumni leaving their space provides an opportunity for ACO staff to move their offices into that area (possibly sometime in the fall term)

    • Water damage in ECH office
      • Computer not damaged; staff member to inform Alfred when Plant Ops has finished repairing leak before equipment is moved back into office.

    • Joel Blit laptop
      • Keyboard issues. Warranty is expired and the cost to repair too expensive for the age of computer so decided to offer him a new one in Rollover program. Barb to contact.
    • Helpdesk+ is live (thanks to Herbert) and functional - can add, edit, delete, and search
      • Use for calls, walk-ins
      • Send the link to ACO staff for testing/comments

      • changed to 64 bit machine
      • TaxPrep 2013 T1 Pushed out to 1099 and available to test. Needs to still be put on some podium machines
    • Common Apps updated
    • PAS1099-2 had wrong IP assigned (now fixed)
    • Rollover Laptop (pcurry) at CHIP, system board being replaced
    • Joel Blit laptop (warranty?) – covered above
    • Win7 image updated

    • Podium Login Issue. Cassie troubleshooting why sgunz can’t log into many podium machines.
    • WCMS failed upgrade
      • Any pages updated in the time period of the IST’s WCMS upgrade, will likely not have saved correctly.
