- budget reminder: submit needs, ideas, wants by end of February
- Computing Technology and Services Committee (CTSC) February 9
- Active Directory Consolidation Project internal audit is in progress; Manfred Griesbach, Jason Testart, and Erick Engelke have been interviewed; timeline of the project is an issue
- Ip Address Management (IPAM) migration from Maintain to Infoblox has been deferred until April 25-26; Layer 2 inter-building links are discouraged
- John Jarray is looking at new copiers since the university's contract with Xerox is near its end; some departments across campus have reported problems with the multifunction units
- a student at Student Technology Advisory Committee (STAC) raised the difficulty of printing on campus; Keith will follow up with the printing committee of which he's a member.
- videoconferencing tools demo Feb 9: Cisco Movi, Instructional Technologies and Multimedia Services (ITMS) studio
- Cisco Movi is a good general videoconferencing product, but as a teaching tool is only manageable for a maximum of 2 classrooms; multiple poor connections to a conference/class can degrade audio and video below an acceptable threshold
- ITMS demonstrated their studio, which is connected to the provincial broadcast television network, and the vBrick that can be used both in the studio and in classrooms; ITMS takes responsibility for all technical aspects of video work including webcasts, guest lectures, convocation, and family night
- VMWare discussion Feb 16: VMWare View PC over IP

- OnBase updates
If you are using Firefox version 9/10, on a PC or Mac, and you use OnBase ‘Document Retrieval’, you may experience that the FIND icon (i.e. the binoculars icon on the bottom left of the ‘Document Retrieval’ window) does not work as expected. The short-term solution is to click the CLEAR ALL icon after which the Find will work. Also, the OnBase splash screen incorrectly reported that new versions of Firefox were not one of the supported browsers but clicking on the Login would allow entry. The splash screen has been updated to match the actual supported browsers. - arts-dns WatIAM entry created
The Maintain (DNS) system lists “arts-dns@watarts” as the contact email for many of the Art’s records. This currently works because of a mail alias on Watarts but in preparation of changing this address to the generic arts-dns@uwaterloo.ca, a WatIAm entry was created for “arts-dns” and a mailservices account will manage the list of recipients. A bulk update of the current contact info will be arranged. - Artsweb cert
A new SSL certificate for the Artsweb web server was requested and installed on artsnexus2 (artsweb). - No 64 bit Mac drivers for Xerox copiers v
The Xerox print drivers for Mac systems running a 64 bit version of MacOS do not support the extended feature set for these printers which means that Departments using the Xerox Standard Accounting or Secure Printing mechanisms will need to do something different for their Mac users. - Agenda program bug
There is a bug in the Agenda software that does not properly add all listed items when a user clicks “Close my Agenda” with pending items. Opening the agenda and adding the items again also fails. - Psych Move
Discussions concerning specific details about the move of Psych users to the Crumb server are continuing.
Guillermo
- Self help site running Firefox.
There were some typos in the content of some xml files interfering with the proper rendering of the info. Updating the xml files fixed the problem with the Self-help site. No need to use a different browser. - Arts Lecture Hall (AL) touch screen.
- The cause of the problem with the touch screen in Hagey Hall (HH) 236 turned out to be a defective power outlet. Connecting the power cable of the touch screen monitor into the power bar where the kiosk is connected to, fixed the problem. Plant Operations has been contacted regarding the defective power outlet.
- globalautonomy.ca

Scott
- E-Prime upgrade
Upgraded E-Prime from 2.0.8.182 to 2.0.10. Many issues with the packaging (took >2 days to sort through the msi with ORCA). Resulted in a working package that can be used to remotely install in the future. - Psychology-Anthropology-Sociology (PAS) 1237/HH 236 cpu sound issue
Sound Blaster 128 pci card's and audio extension cables were added to ally the PAS-1237 systems. While upgrading the systems, Scott used the opportunity to manually remove the old version of E-Prime. - DNS Search order via Group Policy Object (GPO), reverse
The DNS Search order and DNS suffix were removed from the All Computers CONFIG GPO in Nexus for Win 7 systems. Was done initially to fix an issue where the local 'exam' account couldn't log in (needed for 2 exams taking place in PAS-1237). The change caused issues where the dnsHostname attribute for the local computer differed from the Active Directory object therefore causing login issues. Guillermo wrote a script to mass change that attribute after the GPO was reverted. A reboot fixed any issues that lingered (with a couple exceptions).

Discussion: ACO Professional Development talks
Although the last couple of scheduled talks have been cancelled, Dawn would like to see the Development sessions continue. She encouraged everyone to think about topics they could give or topics on which they’d like more information. Update the Professional Development Schedule with ideas.
It was also suggested to consider having sessions offered by Centre for Extended Learning (CEL) done in-house.
