Alumni Relations, in partnership with Centre for Career Action, provides career counselling for Waterloo alumni. Our Alumni Career Advisors are available for individual appointments virtually.


Appointments: 

We encourage Alumni to continue to check WaterlooWorks as new spots are created if you do not see any listed appointments. We sometimes have higher demand than availability, but if you have any questions, please reach out to our front desk staff through our live chat.

UW alumni are entitled to three free appointments, after which a rate of $40 each will be charged. To find out how many of your no-charge appointments are remaining or to pay for additional appointments, please connect with us via our live chat, call us at 519-888-4047 or proceed to payment options. Please note that additional appointments will only be bookable one business day after payment and online processing.

If you have missed two scheduled appointments without cancelling in advance, you will lose access to the booking system. If this happens - please don't worry! We understand life happens. You won't be charged a fee for missing, but we will want to chat about how we can support you in working with the booking system moving forward. We know systems are never designed to support all needs and so if this happens to you, please reach out via live chat or email careers@uwaterloo.ca to chat with one of our Client Support Representatives. They'll work with you to support your booking needs and return system access if that is what's desired

WaterlooWorks:

If you graduated before 2012 and have not logged in to WaterlooWorks since, or if you are having any trouble with your WatIAM credentials, please refer to the WatIAM homepage or email helpdesk@uwaterloo.ca.

Everyone will need to register for the 2-factor authentication (2FA) system before logging in, otherwise you will encounter a “you are not enrolled” error. Please refer to the 2FA homepage for more info and to register. If you need further help please email helpdesk@uwaterloo.ca.

If you have a student account, an alumni account AND a staff account, you will receive an error message when selecting any alumni modules because your staff account is the default. In order to access your alumni account, you’ll have to:

  1. Click “access different account” on the top right of WaterlooWorks (after you’ve logged in), next to the search bar.
  2. Highlight the different account section and you should see your name with “ALUM” next to it.
  3. Select the alumni account section, and you will be taken to your alumni dashboard.

Employers who are seeking to hire Waterloo graduates post jobs directly on WaterlooWorks. To log in to WaterlooWorks, use your WatIAM username and password. 

Alumni are also invited to make full use of the CareerHub, which is an online, step-by-step guide through the career development process. CareerHub also requires you to log in using your WatIAM username and password.
