Frequently asked questions
Do we need a virtual private network (VPN) to access the website? In China, some sources are blocked.
- No VPN access needed. All sources will be included in our code so there will be no links to Google (or anything).
Once registration is completed, will each student receive their login and password for the exam?
- Each teacher who registers will receive a login and password to the exam website a couple of weeks before the exam. It is through this website that teachers will access their student passwords. Teachers will need to log in into the website in advance (before the exam writing period) in order to retrieve their students’ passwords. There will be as many passwords as the number of students registered to write. You will receive an e-mail indicating that your student passwords are available.
Do we need a specific examination room to allow our students to start the exam at one chosen time?
- If possible, each class should write together. Teachers will have the entire day during the exam writing period to have their classes “start” the exam. A teacher logs in, then students put in their passwords. The system will allow up to 15 minutes for students to enter their passwords. Once the entire class is ready, the teacher will “start” the exam. If a teacher has another class writing, the exam can be started again. The system will allow another “start” in 1.5 hours (15 minute sign in and 75 minute writing time).
How about a proctor? Any requirements?
- As with the hardcopy exam, a proctor is necessary. Teachers must stay with their students while writing the exam.
I would like to know the exam duration.
- The exam length is the same as the written exam – 75 minutes. Once teachers login and students enter their passwords, teachers will have 15 minutes to “start” the exam. Once teachers press “Start”, then students will have access to the exam and have 75 minutes.
