Scandium, Scientists in Schools, Guelph, Ontario, Canada
Scandium: This tile was designed by a grade 5 class at Ecole John McCrae, Guelph, Ontario, the winner of a contest by Scientists in School, a Canadian charitable organization. Its vision is to inspire elementary students and teachers to explore science and technology through fun and exciting hands-on workshops.

The winning class describes their tile: In groups we designed different aspects of scandium. Sc stands for scandium and for "Scientists in School". Scandium was very interesting because it's not only used for science but for sports as well. Scandium is used in professional golf clubs and bicycles in the "Tour de France" to make them lighter and stronger. Scandium is a rare earth element so we included an earth. It is also used in making missiles. This element is extremely expensive so we drew a money sign. Scandium was discovered in Sweden. Our teacher's name is Margie Johnson.
