Americium, 95, Lehman Catholic High School, Ohio USA
Americium: Our Advanced Placement Chemistry class of Lehman Catholic High School chose to visualize element 95, americium, as our element. We did this because americium is named after our great nation, America. Our design features the classic Uncle Sam design from the “I Want You” series of WWII posters to represent America. Surrounding Uncle Sam is a cloud of smoke representing a very useful application of americium, as the source of ionizing radiation in some smoke detectors. We used Adobe Photoshop to create our tile.
