Avery To and his award-winning poster "Simple diaryliodonium salt catalysis, right?"

Avery Joseph To, a doctoral student with Prof. Graham Murphy, was awarded a best poster recognition at the annual Quebec-Ontario Mini-Symposium for Synthetic and Bioorganic Chemistry (QOMSBOC), hosted by McMaster University on October 14 to 16, 2022.

Avery's award-winning poster was entitled "Simple diaryliodonium salt catalysis, right?" His work uses hypervalent iodine atoms as catalysts for organic reactions. His poster focused on the enigmatic need for air or oxygen in these reactions, on his attempts to understand oxygen's function, and on how this remains a mystery even after conducting many probative experiments.

Congratulations, Avery!
