Thanks to support from the Government of Canada’s Canadian Foundation for Innovation (CFI), the University of Waterloo Canadian Free Electron Laser (FEL) project will receive $10 million in funding.

This funding will be used towards a $50+ million state-of-the-art facility that will be built on the Waterloo Campus. The user facility will be the only one of its kind in North America.

Chemistry professor, Scott Hopkins, originally conceived of the project and went to great lengths to secure funding.
