Strontium, 38, Cedarburg High School, Wisconsin USA
Strontium:  After researching strontium, I decided to create my tile based on a combination of fireworks and a television set. Strontium is an alkaline earth metal that appears with either a yellowish or white coloring (the first two colors in the television part of the tile). Strontium salts create the red color in fireworks. Strontium compounds are also important for stabilizing firework mixtures. By far the major use of strontium is in the production of traditional color television tubes. The tile was designed using Adobe® Illustrator®.
