- Recommended: CHEM 350 is recommended as a prerequisite.
This course will introduce the fundamental concepts that underlie modern electrochemical energy conversion and storage technologies.
Theories pertaining to the thermodynamics, kinetics, and mass transport in electrochemical systems will be introduced. These fundamental concepts will be applied to build an understanding of experimental techniques such as potentionmetry, cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry and their application to the analysis of real-world electrochemical systems. Modern technologies for electrochemical energy conversion and storage technologies will be explored through student-led literature case-studies.
