- Teaching materials: Lecture slides and literature research papers.
The course aims to cultivate students’ critical analysis and communicating skills in one research field, namely self-assembly of polymers. After a brief introduction to the design and synthesis of polymers with well-defined chemical structures, supramolecular chemistry will be taught to a level allowing students to read literature on the topic, which includes characterization of assemblies, principles guiding the self-assembly, and self-assembly of crystalline polymers that will lead to the discuss of living self-assembly. Finally, the active roles of solvents in self-assembly will be discussed.
