Vanessa Schweizer is an Associate Professor at the University of Waterloo with appointments to
the Department of Knowledge Integration and the
Balsillie School of International Affairs. She teaches design thinking, creative thinking, project management, decision analysis, and scenario analysis. She researches systematic methods for exploratory scenario analysis with applications in climate and energy policy. She sits on the Steering Committee of the International Committee on New Integrated Climate Change Assessment Scenarios (ICONICS) and was a Contributing Author to the Fifth Assessment Report of the
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Dr. Schweizer is currently Principal Investigator on a Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council Discovery Grant regarding low probability but high-impact scenarios entitled "Uncovering 'perfect storms' among possible events affecting complex systems".
