Ian Goulden from the Department of Combinatorics and Optimization has been named Distinguished Professor Emeritus of the University of Waterloo, in recognition of his decades of scholarly excellence, outstanding pedagogy and service to the university that went above and beyond the call.

A researcher in the Department of Combinatorics and Optimization is among the latest winners of a University Research Chair.

Awarded by the Office of the Provost, a University Research Chair recognizes exceptional achievement and pre-eminence in a particular field of knowledge.

Spring 2022 convocation

Five Ph.D. and ten M.Math. C&O students will receive their degrees at the June 16 (6:30 pm) Spring 2022 convocation.

Laura Bumbulis, an undergraduate student in combinatorics and optimization, hadn’t completed much science-related work since taking grade 11 biology.

That changed in 2021 as Bumbulis played a key role in improving efficiency at the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR) during her co-op work term.

Goulden-Jackson 2022

A conference on combinatorial and algebraic enumeration will be held at the University of Waterloo, from May 24-27, 2022. The conference will celebrate the research contributions of Professors Ian Goulden and David Jackson.
