Carlos is an Audio Engineer with over a decade of experience in the live entertainment industry, specializing in audio engineering, sound design, and technical production. After completing formal studies in audio engineering and studio recording, he transitioned into the dynamic world of live performance, operating sound for a wide range of concerts, theatrical productions, and high-profile events across Ontario.
Since 2013, Carlos has contributed extensively to the production of live theatre, working as a Technical Coordinator, Sound Designer, and Mixing Engineer for numerous companies throughout the GTA. His work spans theatre, festivals, and corporate events, giving him a comprehensive understanding of the evolving demands of live performance.
One of his most notable achievements includes serving as Head of Audio for the production of The Addams Family: A Musical Comedy, which received the Broadway.com award for Best Community Theatre Production. He also worked as an Audio Engineer for the Longest Concert by Multiple Artists, a project that earned a Guinness World Record in 2017, an accolade that still holds to this day.
In his current role at the University of Waterloo, Carlos has played a key part in the major transformation of the Humanities Theatre, leading and supporting multi-year renovation projects. These upgrades include the integration of state-of-the-art audio, lighting, rigging, and video systems, significantly elevating the venue’s technical capabilities and performance standards.
In his previous role, Carlos served as the Technical Coordinator Assistant for the School of Arts, Media, Performance and Design at York University, where he supported academic productions, student training, and technical operations.
