What is a key piece of advice that you would like to share with current theatre students?
The understanding that success isn't a straight line, and it has way more downs than ups.
I have failed at any number of projects, written whole books and plays that just sit on my hard drive because they don't amount to anything. I have applied for far more grants than I have received and acted in far less productions than I have auditioned for. Success means failing over and over again. It means learning how to move on and trying something else.
The only thing that separates you from people who have 'more success' than you is scale.
