Systems Leadership Framework

How can we best understand systems leadership as both a concept and a practice? How can we best enable practitioners across domains, and levels in the system to achieve the change they are working towards for the people and in the places they care about?  In this presentation, Dr. Seanna Davidson will provide an overview of the Systems Leadership Framework and its associated theory of change, as well as the key design elements of a 10 month leadership program which seeks to achieve this aim.  As the second cohort completes the program, she will offer candid reflections on the learnings as designer and facilitator.
Dr. Seanna Davidson is the founder and Director of The Systems School, where she works with individuals, teams, and collaborations to navigate complex problems through systems thinking, reflective practice, and action learning. Her current efforts focus on building capability for systems leadership both through conceptual development of a systems leadership framework, and the co-delivery of a 10 month systems leadership program.  This work builds on over 15 years of experience as a systems practitioner, process designer, and educator across academic, government, and community sectors.

Seanna holds a PhD in Geography from the University of Waterloo, where her research applied systems approaches to studying 30 years of governance change in the Lake Simcoe watershed—Canada's only watershed governed by provincial legislation. This foundational work led her to co-edit "Water as a Social Opportunity" and established her expertise in cross-boundary governance and systemic change.
