Graduate Student Complexity Seminar & Social

New this term, University of Waterloo graduate students will discuss their complex systems work during a monthly seminar. Join us for a 20 minute talk, followed by a 20-minute discussion and feedback opportunity. Afterwards, everyone who is able is welcome to meet at the Graduate House for food and socializing from 6 p.m. onward.

This month, Jude H. Kurniawan talks about 'Visualizing different perspectives of energy scenarios' on Thursday, May 16 from 4:30-5:30 in EV3 3401. We hope to see you there!

A joint seminar sponsored by Waterloo Institute for Complexity & Innovation [WICI] and the Department of Systems Design Engineering.

There have been broad advances in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) in the past decade, especially in the areas of Deep Learning and Reinforcement Learning (RL) which allow us to more easily learn predictive models and control policies for large, complex systems than ever before. One subset of problems that remains very challenging are domains that contain some form of spatially spreading process (SSP) where some local features change over time across based on proximity in space.

Join us for the WICI Poetry & Complexity event on Tuesday, March 27, 2018.

Time:   4:00 - 6:00 p.m.

Venue:  University of Waterloo,  Davis Centre.  Room 1301.

Tuesday, October 2, 2018 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm EDT (GMT -04:00)

WICI Open House

Please join us for the Waterloo Institute for Complexity & Innovation's Open House on Tuesday, October 2nd, 2018, in DC 1301, "The Fishbowl" from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.  Network with faculty and students interested in complex systems.

  • Meet WICI's Director Dr. Dawn Parker and other WICI Members.
  • Learn about upcoming events and initiatives.
  • Light refreshments will be provided.
