The Roberta and Lonsdale Schofield Graduate Scholarship in Architecture will be awarded annually to an outstanding student entering the professional Master of Architecture Program. Normally it will be awarded in conjunction with an Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) or a Queen Elizabeth II Graduate Scholarship in Science & Technology (QEII-GSST). The endowment was established by Roberta and Lonsdale Schofield in recognition of the relocation of the School of Architecture to Cambridge.
Program
The TD Bank Graduate Scholarships in the Environment are awarded annually to full-time University of Waterloo graduate students who hold an Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) or a Queen Elizabeth II Graduate Scholarship in Science & Technology (QEII-GSST) and are enrolled in the faculties of Engineering, Environment or Science and in an area of study with a strong environmental focus.
Recipients are chosen by each Faculty’s Associate Dean of Graduate Studies. There are six awards valued at $5,000 each, two awards per faculty. Open to Canadian citizens and/or permanent residents.
Two graduate scholarships that will be presented to full-time graduate students who have been accepted into the graduate program in Electrical and Computer Engineering. The value of the scholarships will be $25,000 comprising of $10,000 from the payout of the endowment, $10,000 from the faculty supervisor of the graduate student and $5000 from the University.
An award valued at $5,000 will be provided annually to a full-time graduate student enrolled in the master’s or doctoral program in the School of Pharmacy in the Faculty of Science. Selection is based on academic excellence (minimum 80% cumulative average in their current program/over the last two full time academic years) combined with demonstrated interest and involvement in community service. Interested students should submit an application, found on the School of Pharmacy website, by March 1.
A scholarship valued at approximately $1,000, is awarded annually to full-time graduate students enrolled in the Master's/Doctoral program in the School of Optometry Vision Science graduate program whose research provides basic or clinical information pertaining to the developing visual system in infants and children. The Dr. Emerson Woodruff Graduate Scholarship was established in his memory, through the support of family and friends, to honour this former Professor and Director of the University of Waterloo's School of Optometry for his many contributions to optometric education and the profession. This scholarship recognizes his leadership role in the establishment of the School's Vision Science program and his passion for paediatrics research.
An award may be given annually on entrance to the MA program when a student, admitted directly from the University of Waterloo Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies honour's program to the master's program, is judged to be outstanding. The criteria will include community service and overall academic excellence. The selection will be made by the Recreation and Leisure Graduate Studies Committee at the time of admission to the MA program.
This scholarship has been established by Dr. and Mrs. Nagraj Tumkur in memory of their children: Rammohan and Chitralekha, who were killed in the Air-India flight 182 that crashed in June 1985 with no survivors. It will be awarded annually, if a suitable candidate exists, for postgraduate study leading to a Master of Science degree in any field of biology. The recipient will be a MSc candidate in the Department of Biology, University of Waterloo.
Dr. Sally Weaver was the former chair of the University of Waterloo Anthropology department and an authority on Canadian First Nations. She came to UWaterloo in 1966. Sally was the author of extensive work about Native peoples in North America, dating back to Medicine and Politics among the Grand River Iroquois in 1972 and Making Canadian Indian Policy in 1981.
Richard & Elizabeth Madter Graduate Award in Electrical & Computer Engineering - OGS/QEII-GSST Match
Richard and Elizabeth Madter, Alumni of the University of Waterloo have established two research scholarships for graduate students in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Waterloo. The students will hold an Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) or a Queen Elizabeth II Graduate Scholarship in Science & Technology (QEII-GSST).
This award is named after Professor D.A. Sprott, the founding Chair of the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science, and is made annually to a registered full-time student who has been recognized by the Department as having shown particular promise in research in the PhD program prior to the final approval of their thesis. The selection will be made by the Awards subcommittee of the Statistics and Actuarial Science Graduate Committee. The Graduate Committee can decide not to award the Sprott Scholarship in any year. The Department can agree to change the terms of the award at any time.
